Supporting Amber
Amber’s story, shared to us by our Member Kevin Lynch, has deeply touched us. We’ve resolved to stand by her side as a club, and we urge you to join us in supporting her journey. Please take a moment to read Amber’s inspiring story and consider contributing towards her future.
Ambers Story
Amber was born back in 2008 bringing much joy and happiness to her family. However, a holiday to Turkey in 2010 turned into a nightmare when on return she was rushed to Alder Hey Hospital where after a period of confusion as to the nature of her ailment she was diagnosed with meningococcal septicaemia. Her health rapidly declined, leading to the amputation of her limbs. After a harrowing ordeal and twelve operations, Amber emerged from a two-month coma, surrounded by relieved family members.
Recovery was arduous, with months spent in hospital beds and extensive rehabilitation. With determination, she learned to walk again with the help of prosthetic legs. But the COVID-19 pandemic halted her progress, rendering her unable to obtain replacements due to her compromised immune system.
Hope emerged when she received an appointment at Aintree Hospital’s prosthetic centre in March 2023. However, her dream was shattered when the doctor questioned her aspirations – “Just to walk again” seemed inadequate, leaving her disheartened and uncertain about her future.
Yet, amidst the darkness, Amber found solace in the unwavering support of her school community. Head teacher Kevin and safeguarding officer Macey rallied behind her, opening doors to new possibilities.
Their dedication serves as a beacon of hope, reminding Amber that with determination and a supportive community, no challenge is insurmountable. Let’s unite to support Amber on her journey to a brighter future.
